Tata Literature live festival Oct 31 to Nov 4 at NCPA, Mumbai


The third edition of the Tata Literature Live festival is slated for October 31 - November 4 at the National Centre for Performing Arts and promises to be even more exciting than the previous two editions. There will be parallel sessions running at the Experimental and Little theatres along with different styles of theatre performances at the various venues, including Tata theatre. For the theatre enthusiasts, also taking place are workshops in the Audio-Visual room related to playwriting and performance poetry, and a straight talk by Girish Karnad.
To attend the sessions, free day passes can be collected at the start of each day from the venue. Separate passes need to be collected for the performances. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:

31st October, Wednesday -
2 pm - Workshop by Tanika Gupta on Playwriting - Developing a Play from Scratch
6:30 pm - Tata Theatre: Reinventing Spirituality: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in conversation with Arundhathi Subramaniam and Anil Dharker.
8 pm - Tata Theatre: Landmark Lifetime Achievement Award to Sir Vidia Naipaul. Followed by Sir Vidia in conversation with Farrukh Dhondy.

2nd November, Friday -
10:30 am - Workshop by Inua Ellams on Performance Poetry 1.30 pm - Experimental Theatre: Girish Karnad on his life in theatre.

3rd November, Saturday -
10 am - Experimental Theatre: Panel Discussion- Where do theatre stories come from? Chris Larner, Girish Karnad, Tanika Gupta. Chair: Anish Trivedi.

DAILY PERFORMANCES:
1st November, Thursday -
6 pm - 14th Tale by Inua Ellams - One-man's humorous and moving self-portrait of life spent growing up in Nigeria, Dublin and London.
7:30 pm - Hip-Hop Shakespear Live by Akala - A medley of songs inspired by scenes/themes from famous Shakespeare plays and sonnets

2nd November, Friday -
5 pm - Hayavadana - A play in which Shakespeare meets Indian folklore -with a philosophical twist. Who reigns supreme - the head or the body?
8 pm - Thurber and Seth's Animals by Naseeruddin Shah - 10 short stories performed in the writers own words.

3rd November, Saturday -
12 pm - Green Poems for a Blue Planet by Dr Martin Kiszko - A humorous, theatrical and challenging stand-up poetry performance suitable for the entire family.
7.30 pm - An Instinct for Kindness - Chris Larner accompanied his chronically ill ex-wife to Dignitas euthanasia clinic in Switzerland. He came home with an empty wheelchair and a story to tell.

4th November, Sunday -
10 am - Kyun Kyun Ladki - An adapted dance, movement, and live music performance of Mahashweta Devi's story Why-Why Girl
7.30 pm - Interpreting Tagore - A dance performance inspired by Tagore's poems with children of the Salaam Balak Trust
